Our Top Tips for Scholarship Applications

Our 2024 scholarship application is available and is due Feb. 29. Here are a few helpful tips for a successful application:

1. Create your profile and remember your login! HCCF Executive Director, Mackenzie Price, presented to each of our seven high schools virtually or in person. During that presentation, seniors completed their General Application to determine their eligibility for HCCF scholarships. Use the same username and password to continue editing and completing scholarship applications.

2. Proofread: Ask a parent, friend, or teacher to proofread your application, especially the short essays. Remember to write them in GoogleDocs or Word and not in the platform itself.

3. Watch your deadlines: Financial Aid Offices and Scholarship Providers stick to them!

4. Share your unique story in the essays. Our scholarship review committees want to get to know you.

5. Update your Uploads:

  • Two Letters of Recommendation — ask for these ASAP!

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Student Aid Index (SAI)

  • Transcript — use the newest transcript that includes your first semester senior year grades

  • Resume - include every job, extra curricular activity, club, and achievement you received in high school

6. Hit Submit on each scholarship application and remember that HCCF also manages funds for current college students in select fields, those returning to college, and those seeking advanced degrees in numerous medical related fields. If you meet those criteria, come back next year for the Graduate Application!
