Why Make

Outright

Gifts?

Immediate Impact

Outright gifts provide immediate resources that the foundation can use to address urgent needs and support ongoing programs.

Tax Benefits

Donors can receive tax deductions and potentially limit capital gains tax exposure, enhancing the financial benefits of their charitable giving.

Simplicity and Convenience

Outright gifts are straightforward to arrange and can be executed quickly, making them a convenient option for donors.

Versatility

These gifts can be directed toward specific programs, projects, or endowment funds, allowing donors to align their contributions with their philanthropic goals.

Community Support

By making outright gifts, donors play a crucial role in strengthening and sustaining their community through immediate and impactful support.

Memorial or Tribute Gifts

Honor Loved Ones: Make a donation in memory or honor of someone special, supporting causes that matter to them. These gifts often support community projects or specific funds aligned with the honoree’s interests.

Securities

Stocks and Bonds

Donating appreciated stocks or bonds may offer significant tax benefits, such as limiting capital gains tax exposure and receiving a charitable deduction for the full market value. These gifts often allow donors to provide more financial support to causes they care about than out-of-pocket, cash gifts.

Mutual Funds

Contributions of mutual fund shares are another way to support the foundation while potentially benefiting from tax advantages.

Real Estate

Outright Real Estate Gifts: Donating property, such as homes, commercial buildings, or land, can be a valuable, tax advantageous, way to support the foundation.

Retirement Assets

IRA Charitable Rollovers

If you are 72 (or turned 70 ½ before January 1, 2020), you can make a gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to the foundation. This gift may help satisfy a Required Minimum Distribution for the year. Because the gift is contributed directly from your IRA to the foundation, it is not treated as income, which allows donors to maximize their income tax savings. IRA Charitable Rollovers allow donors to contribute to causes they care about without needing to write an out-of-pocket check.
